Evelyn is married to the vampire lord Lucian until he leaves her for her sister, who has only just been turned. Worse follows. Evelyn loses her child, and she does not stay to argue about whose fault that was. She severs the blood bond tying her to Lucian and walks out of his house with nothing settled between them.
