How we ranked them
All four apps sell the same thing: vertical dramas in episodes of about a minute, a few free episodes up front, then coins or a subscription to keep going. So the ranking comes down to catalog identity, how clearly each app explains what you’ll pay, and how much friction there is on the free route and at cancellation time. The facts below come from each app’s own website, terms and store listings, plus user reviews on the App Store and Trustpilot. If you’re new to the format, start with what a short drama is.
1. ReelShort: best for classic billionaire and revenge dramas
ReelShort, made by Crazy Maple Studio, Inc., is the most focused of the four. Its store listing is built around billionaires, betrayals, comebacks and revenge, and its website says more than 20 new series arrive each week. It also has interactive titles where you choose what happens next.
It earns the top spot partly because it’s the most transparent about pricing. ReelShort’s own coin guide says a standard episode usually costs 60 coins and 500 coins cost $4.99, and its help articles lay out the free route: daily check-ins, rewarded ads, tasks and an invite program.
Cons: ReelShort’s Trustpilot page is full of one-star reviews about charges after cancellation and refused refunds, and its terms say coin and subscription sales are final. App Store reviewers complain about daily caps on ad rewards and reward coins that expire.

2. DramaBox: best for genre variety
DramaBox, run by Singapore’s STORYMATRIX PTE. LTD., has the widest spread of genres here. Its website sorts shows into Romance, Fantasy, Mafia and Urban, and its homepage pushes fantasy and action premises alongside the usual romance. The App Store lists a membership tier at $5.99 as well as higher tiers at $17.99 and $19.99, which gives you a cheaper way to try a subscription. Its website also describes a VIP Weekly Pass with discounts and Reward Coins you earn in the app.
Cons: The most repeated App Store complaint is ads that run longer than the one-minute episodes they unlock. Reviewers also complain about unresolved endings, and a handful of Trustpilot reviews describe weekly charges continuing after cancellation. The terms say all fees are non-refundable.

3. ShortMax: best for international and multilingual dramas
ShortMax is operated by SHORTTV LIMITED, a Hong Kong company, according to its terms and App Store listing. Its Google Play listing claims more than 50,000 short dramas and movies in 19 languages, including American, Korean, Chinese and Japanese series, with multilingual subtitles and dubbing. That international reach is the reason to pick it. The listing also mentions offline downloads and picture-in-picture playback, and its genre list covers everything from werewolf romance and mafia drama to time travel and contract marriage.
Its terms are unusually clear about the wallet. Paid gold coins get spent before bonus coins, bonus coins expire on a date shown in My Wallet, and subscriptions renew 24 hours before they expire. The App Store lists a Weekly Pass Pro at $9.99 and $19.99.
Cons: One App Store reviewer complained that episodes can cost up to 60 coins and that you can’t see an episode’s price before you start watching. Trustpilot reviews are few, but they describe $19.99 weekly charges continuing after cancellation and no clear way to cancel. Spending paid coins before bonus coins also means earned bonuses can expire unused.
4. GoodShort: best for VIP perks like offline viewing
GoodShort’s App Store seller is SINGAPORE NEW READING TECHNOLOGY PTE. LTD., and its Google Play listing appears under GoodNovel. Its listing highlights webnovel adaptations and a trope-heavy genre list, including billionaire romance, ruthless CEOs, alpha werewolves and war gods. Its VIP pitch is the most concrete of the four: premium dramas free and ad-free, offline downloads, 1080p playback and daily check-in rewards that extend VIP benefits. The App Store shows coin packs from 500 coins at $4.99 to 2,500 coins at $24.99, and Weekly VIP options at $5.99, $9.99 and $19.99.
Cons: GoodShort’s Trustpilot page skews heavily negative, with reviews about charges after cancellation, refused refunds and hard-to-reach support. App Store reviewers say earning bonus coins takes too many ads and that coins sometimes get spent on episodes they’d already watched. Its user agreement says payments are non-refundable and there are no partial refunds for mid-cycle cancellation, and the Play listing says there’s no mid-period cancellation.
How to pick
Every app here has free episodes, so you can test each one before paying anything, and that’s exactly what we’d recommend. Start with what you want to watch. For the core tropes, ReelShort. For genre range, DramaBox. For non-US dramas and dubbing, ShortMax. For offline downloads bundled into VIP, GoodShort. Browse our trope lists for secret baby, second chance, hidden identity and werewolf alpha stories, or check trending and new titles to see which app has the series you want.
Then protect your wallet, whichever app you pick. Every one of these apps sells weekly subscriptions that renew automatically, and every one has refund terms that favor the company. Watch the free episodes before paying, compare coins against a single week of VIP when a series has many locked episodes left, and turn off auto-renewal as soon as you subscribe.
