What Fiancée's Betrayal, Dante's Inferno is about
Dante Bosch has been gone for three years, serving in the Marine Raiders, sent on a mission he cannot talk about. When he finally comes home, he finds his fiancée has been unfaithful, and that is only part of what went wrong while he was away.
The engagement falls apart. Dante says nothing about his rank or what he did during those years, and the people who betrayed him treat him as someone of no importance. He plays along and lets them underestimate him while he decides how to deal with them.
